To me, this is awefully expensive kit to break on the second use. Dissappointed. I bought a smaller and cheaper chain breaker without the press that works better as a chain breaker. The kit comes complete with everything one needs to do the work, but I was not impressed with the function of the kit. First off, I had to break my 520 non o-ring chain on my motorcycle. That went well and I had the chain off the bike in 15 following the instructions. I then had to remove an additional two links from the chain for a new smaller sprocket I was installing when the breaker pin actually broke! I followed the same procedure and even backed off and re-applying pressure as recommended when the breaker pin snapped inside the link. Was charged $15 for a replacement pin from MotionPro!!!The riveting tool was not very impressive either. The flare tool for the link rivets doesn't put much of a flare end on them and now I worry they won't hold. Will need to press them with a flat hard surface to be sure. I appreciate having one place to contain all the pieces securely. It would be even better if there were a couple more slots, as there are a couple of things that have to be screwed onto the clamp or lay loose in the basin for the clamp. All other pieces have their own place.The tool is easy to assemble and use. If you're going to service your own chain, having something like this not only makes the process easier, but gives you the peace of mind that the job's done right. Comes with very explicit instructions, with emphasis where it needs to be added. I don't expect to ever have to buy another chain tool. |
