You are not going to warn the other rider that there is something in the road. It's not a push and talk like a radio. These can only pair with 3 things, one phone and two other units or phone, nav and one other unit. So you can only talk to a max of two other riders - ONE AT A TIME. Not a three way conversation. But the communication is full duplex so both can be talking to each other at the same time - like a phone rather than like a radio where only one can talk at a time. The distance that clear communication is possible seems to vary. Sometime you need to be as close as 20ft other times they work at the advertised distance of 500 meters. I'm sure external interference is at work here. For what they are, they work very well. Several people on a phone call tell me they can't even tell I'm on a motorcycle at 65 mph. (Full face... I must say that I was skeptical. It is easy to install them, but a bit difficult to understand the set-up. The instructions stink! They will get you started, but the rest requires some tenacity in learning how they work, and learning how to operate them. After some experimenting, I found that one of the most important things, is to get the speakers aligned with your ear canal, then space them out in the helmet to get them as close to your ears as possible. Once this was achieved, and it took some trial and error, we could communicate very well! Then, the fun began to be realized! We tried them on our Gold wings, which was great once we had them spaced close to our ears. Then, we went off road on the DP bikes. Yeeee Haaawww!
